The Journey: A Summary
The Journey: A Summary
2024 Ibn Jubayr Senior Fellow
David undertook an expedition by bicycle to traverse the northern watersheds of three historic rivers: the Euphrates, Tigris, and Zab. He explored the spaces in between– between past and present, between storied rivers, between communities with their own unique yet interconnected stories.
This journey connected parts of his personal and professional experience in Turkey and Iraq over the past two decades, and we're thrilled to have joined him.
You can retrace David's bicycle tracks from Urfa to Erbil through an interactive story map. Explore each location, witness reunions with old friends, the forging of new friendships, and experience the countless acts of kindness from strangers along the way.
