Between 2018 and 2019, API staff and partners visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to conduct a $260,000 trail feasibility study in the Asir Province. Located north of Yemen on the coast of the Red Sea, Asir has a more temperate climate than most of Saudi Arabia and boasts the highest mountain on the Arabian Peninsula - Jabal Sawda, standing at 3,000 meters.
As a result of our time in Saudi Arabia we met so many amazing people, including local Saudi guides Fahd “Abu Ali” Al-Muqbil and Salwa Al Qunaibet, "Daughter of the Desert".
