Biography

Helen was born in Beirut, Lebanon and lived mostly in the Middle East and Europe before moving to the United States to pursue her BFA at Syracuse University. Her work has been widely exhibited in galleries and museums around the world and her paintings are included in public and private collections, including the World Bank, The Library of Congress, the Arab American National Museum in Detroit, and the White House.

"My work is ultimately about creating empathy. Creating a shared space for introspection and dialogue," shares Helen. "I ask the viewer to see through someone else’s eyes, to walk in another’s shoes. To accept the “other.” To reject divisiveness. To promote acceptance and understanding and to reject violence and subjugation of anyone anywhere. To give voice to the voiceless, to heal, and to reflect in our shared humanity."

Stories From the Lebanon Mountain Trail

Beginning in Beirut and journeying through different stages of the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT) - a 600 km path stretching from Andqet in the north to Marjayoun in the south - Helen soaked in the stories, histories, and stunning landscapes with the help of local experts.

From majestic mountains and historic homes to ancient cedar forests and the Mediterranean coast, we were thrilled to accompany Helen on her journey. Follow us on social media to revisit her experiences and reflections along the way!
